SUPPORT US TROOPS
In previous military deployment, any American could write a letter or send a care package to troops by addressing the envelope to “any soldier.” Unfortunately, because of anthrax, the Department of Defense must be careful about mail to our troops. Because of this situation, special controls have been established with “very strict” guidelines, where designated “members of the military family” can collect, personally pack, and ship packages to specified troops stationed in combat areas where contents will be distributed. Dr. Thomas J. and Joannie Parr have qualified to participate in this project and have invited Girl Scouts to collect items. Eloise Starr of Delta Skies Service Unit has volunteered to help them collect items from Girl Scouts. She can be reached at 713-541-4745 for a list of requested items and to arrange for pickup of donations.

FREE INSERTS FOR GIRL SCOUT SABBATH AND SUNDAY Religious inserts are available for pick up at the front desk at the Girl Scout Center during regular business hours. These inserts are perfect for placing in church and synagogue bulletins or passing out on Girl Scout Sunday and Sabbath in March or any other time of the year. Call 713-292-0300 to reserve copies. Inserts are available while supplies last.

WILDFIRES TO WILDFIRES (W2W)
Girl Scouts San Diego-Imperial has begun the recovery process from the damage received during the fires last fall. The Wildfires to Wildflowers (W2W) Fund will help their council to restore the land, rebuild, and repair camp structures so Girl Scouts can camp this winter or early spring. To support Wildfires to Wildflowers, mail your check (payable to Girl Scouts) to their council headquarters at 1231 Upas St., San Diego, CA 92103. To charge your gift to a credit card, call 619-610-0709, e-mail jshragge@girlscoutssdi.org. Indicate on the check whether you wish your donation to be used for general operations (e.g. insurance premiums, communications, and utilities) or the W2W Fund. All donors will receive a Commemorative W2W patch. To learn more, check out their Web site at www.girlscoutssdi.org.

NEW WEB SITE FOR GIRLS Girl Scouts can visit ABC Bakery’s Web site, www.abcsmartcookies.com, for fun games, clip art, and more relating to the 2004 Make a Splash Cookie Sale.

There will also be helpful hints on first aid and safety. Leaders will find updates on program offerings.
