Fund Development
Supporters provide brighter futures for tomorrow’s leaders

The Fund Development/Brand Management Department solicits donations from corporations, foundations, and individuals to assure that Girl Scouting is available for all girls and to provide financial means for Girl Scout programs.
Supporters may honor others in Girl Scouting in several ways: donations to one of the Council’s many funds, an engraved brick on the Promise Path at Camp Agnes Arnold, or a plaque at Camp Casa Mare. Women may join The Emerald Circle, a social and service group, which supports Girl Scouting through its membership fees.
Donate on-line to any of the Council funds at www.gssjc.org.

GSUSA introduces Commit To A Girl

What is Commit To A Girl? In partnership with over 250 local councils, Girl Scouts of the USA is launching Commit To A Girl, its first-ever national online fundraising initiative to generate financial support and further strengthen Girl Scouts’ position as the premier advocate for girls.
Commit To A Girl is a stand-alone Web site through which visitors can learn about what’s really happening in girls’ lives today and the powerful impact that Girl Scout participation has on a girl’s life, and then make a gift that supports a girl’s experience as a Girl Scout.

Participants will also be able to create their own page from which they can request
donations from friends and family. In short, the Commit To A Girl campaign allows caring adults to give the gift of Girl Scouting to girls who may otherwise never have the chance to experience this positive influence in their lives.

Commit To A Girl will raise the visibility of Girl Scouts to a wider audience and

provide an innovative way for former Girl Scouts and family members to reconnect. During the campaign and beyond, donors will receive a monthly e-newsletter with campaign updates, national and local activities of interest, information about volunteering, other ways to Commit To A Girl, and fundraising appeals. This ongoing communication will help Girl Scouts deepen relationships with donors and plant the seeds for an alumni network.

Why is Commit To A Girl important? Today’s young girls face a far more complex, more challenging world. Girl Scouts has evolved to help them meet the challenge. On issues ranging from teen suicide to drugs, eating disorders to physical abuse, Girl Scouts guides girls at a turning point in their lives with programs that promote physical activity, health and fitness, civic responsibility, and community involvement.
Girl Scouts’ cutting-edge program initiatives give girls the skills they need to avoid

unhealthy behaviors and make responsible decisions that will help them overcome
challenges throughout their lives. In fact, 64% of today’s women leaders in the United
States (civic, corporate, political, etc.) were Girl Scouts and 82% of high-achieving alumnae believe Girl Scouts influenced their success. In study after study, it is clear that girls involved in Girl Scouts are more likely to lead healthy successful lives as they develop:

  • Self competence
  • Social skills
  • Respect for others
  • Feelings of belonging
  • Strong values
  • Concern for community
  • Teamwork
  • Leadership

When caring adults contribute to Commit To A Girl, they help fulfill the dream of making Girl Scouting available to every girl who wants to join.
