Registering early has its rewards for 10 troops

Congratulations to the ten troops who were drawn to win a $20 Girl Scout Shop gift certificate for participating in Early Registration 2004 and re-registering 80% of its members. All the troops who met the requirements were placed in a drawing at MDC 2003, and the winners are listed below.

Cadette Troop #11088
Erica N., Jennifer M., and Kathryn P. completed final requirements for the Silver Award by planning and carrying out the Enchanted Forest Service Unit Weekend held at Camp Agnes Arnold. For their project, good friend and Juliette, Katelan H., and the troop hosted 120 Brownies, Juniors, and adults for the international themed event. The four girls taught their guests about the four World Centers. They also included a Thinking Day ceremony. Jennifer and Kathryn are members of the Green Starlettes Drill Team, and Erica is manager of the Cy-Creek Girls Junior Varsity Softball Team. Junior Troop #3325
Troop #3325 has been busy working on the Native American Indian Heritage Patch and other badge work. The girls earned their first sign and are working on their leadership award. The troop camped in Goody’s Treehouses at Camp Agnes Arnold and had a terrific time. The girls caroled at Winterhaven Nursing Home during Christmas break. Junior Home School Group #5701/Cadette Troop #16002
Troop #5701 is a home school troop with a mix of first, second, and third-year Juniors. Troop members completed the Bronze Award working at SIRE, then part of the troop bridged to form Cadette Troop #16002. Leadership Team: Mary Goble and Lynne Jackson

Congratulations to Frog’s Creek Service Unit
The names of all service units registering 80% of their members were placed in a drawing at the 2003 MDC. Frog’s Creek volunteers were selected to receive a dinner prepared and served by the Membership Department. Carolyn Johnson, vice president of Membership, and her volunteer partner, Joanne Williams, vice chair of Membership, and their team, Membership Coordinators Betty Magnuson, Carolyn Busch, Diane Sturges, and Penny Harp; Volunteer Coordinator Tab Kennedy, and Membership Directors Yvonne Sparks, Gladys Birdwell, and Sandee Williams provided everything needed for a fiesta themed dinner, including the door prizes. Brownie Troop #10647
Troop #10647 participated in its first camping trip at Camp Robinwood. The girls went stargazing, fishing, hiking, rode in paddleboats, and had an awesome campfire song gathering. Leadership Team: Charlotte Howard and Claire Duke

 

 

and Stephanie Egan, Membership Manager Kathy Denton, and over 30 volunteers attended the service unit meeting dinner.

Way to go, Brooks Bayou Service Unit
“Just Desserts with the Program Department” will be delivered to Brooks Bayou Service unit in the coming membership year.

Singing Springs Service Unit
Singing Springs Service Unit is cashing in on its prize: a “Pocketful of Program” training being delivered at the August service unit meeting by the Adult Development Department. Leaders will learn tips about ready program ideas to take to their troops in time to help girls plan for the coming year.
