All first aid courses have the same skills and basic general information but use different books, scenarios, videos, and have different emphasis.
The Sports Safety Training course is a level II First Aid class for Girl Scout purposes. The scenarios are based on outdoor activities and sports.
The Community First Aid and Safety course offers first aid and safety information related to the home environment. When combined with When Help is Delayed, it becomes a Level II class
The Standard First Aid course provides hands on first aid training consistent with
OSHA guidelines. Scenarios are based around the workplace.
The Wilderness First Aid Course is a new course that teaches first aid skills and knowledge for settings in which emergency care is delayed for long periods, or self evacuation is necessary. It is an in-depth Level II First Aid course. CPR is not included.
CPR courses also vary. Community CPR deals with all three age groups–Infant, Child, and Adult. Adult CPR deals with age 8 and up and child CPR deals with ages 1-8.
The AED course is the module that deals with the automated external defibrillators used to help restart a heart.
When Help is Delayed is a module for those away from medical help for longer than 30 minutes and fits requirements for Level II First Aid.
CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer is the course for those individuals who have a duty to respond to emergencies such as lifeguards, EMTs, paramedics, and RNs.
Plan to purchase PRIOR to class the appropriate book(s) which an be obtained at any Red Cross office or Girl Scout Center, or Imperial Valley Service Center. Different books are needed for the various courses.

WILDERNESS FIRST AID BASICS
(Ages 15 and up and adults)
This new course will teach you first aid skills and knowledge for settings in which emergency care is delayed for long periods, or self evacuation is necessary. Identifying causes, prevention and care of injuries in wilderness areas through scenarios and simulated rescues that test knowledge and skills. When Help is Delayed information is included in this program. It is recommended that you have a current CPR certificate prior to enrolling in this class. It is a Level II first aid class.

BASIC AID TRAINING
(Girls ages 9 and up)
This course teaches safety awareness, accident prevention, and basic first aid skills. Activities include fire safety, fire escape plans for your home, learning rescue breathing, and wound care. Portions of the First Aid and Safety Sense badges are completed.
